Welcome to the
DIVISION OF STUDENT AFFAIRS

Attending college is an exciting time in the life of a student, and the Division of Student Affairs is here to help every student become an active and integral part of the campus community. The Division of Student Affairs, many of the departments of which are located in the A. Alfred Taubman Student Services Center, brings together all the services a student needs to succeed, and provides the support for students to obtain confidential assistance in addressing any personal concerns they have about attending college.

Common Service Philosophy

Staff of the Taubman Student Services Center have designed a collaborative system of processes and services in an effort to:

  • provide consistent high-level service
  • focus on customer satisfaction
  • create an environment of teamwork and improvement
  • commit to a never-ending search for a better way.

Purpose Statement

Through these efforts, the Division of Student Affairs continuously strives to fulfill the following purpose:

By creating communities that foster student learning and development, Student Affairs’ purpose is to support students, staff, and faculty in achieving the mission of LTU.

Core Values and Commitment

As members of the division, each professional has embraced our common core values:

  • Stellar Service
  • Learning-Focused
  • Quality Programming
  • Integrity

These core values are fulfilled through a personal commitment made by each division staff member, collectively determined by the staff over several months of dialogue. Known as the Division of Student Affairs Commitment, staff members agree to the following:

I will
…be honest and trustworthy.
…be considerate and respectful.
…embrace diversity.
…demonstrate professionalism, teamwork and commitment.
…celebrate successes.

The Divisions of Student Affairs at LTU provides a diverse college experience not commonly found on small private university campuses. By creating a culture of student involvement and student leadership development, the University has enhanced the quantity and quality of programs and services for students, in an effort to inspire independence, leadership, civic and personal responsibility, and encourage academic excellence.
